How Needs are Met and Goals are Achieved

Once you become a client of Armidale Family Support Service, we will match you with the AFSS worker who is best suited to your family and situation. We will consider things such as your needs and the needs of your family

Your support worker will schedule regular meetings with you, either at your home or another convenient place. Depending on your needs at the time, these meetings can cover a range of things such as:

• Support on a one to one basis
• Support for couples and families
• Learning new skills through workshops and group activities
• Providing information on a large range of topics relevant to families
• Providing information and resources
• Helping you deal with other services such as Department of Housing, Department of Community Service (DOCS)   and other government agencies

Our service is managed by a community-based committee. This means that you can have an input into the running of the service and the direction in which it develops. All you have to do is present your ideas to the committee, either by attending a meeting or asking for an item to be discussed at the Management Committee meetings. You can talk to the Mangager about accessing the Committee or write directly  write to;

Our Limitations

Unfortunately there will be times when clients experience a delay in being able to access our services. This occurs because we are a busy service with limited resources. On some occasions we are forced to create a waiting list, though we do try to prioritise in terms of urgency. Where we can, and where it is appropriate, we will also advise you of other services / organisations that may assist you and how to access them.

AFSS does not have money to give to families in need of financial support, however we can refer you to other organisations that may have emergency relief funds
